The Animated Series' Showrunner Is Aware of Your Season 2 Predictions — With Some Positive Updates

The highly-awaited Season 2 of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel debuts on the streaming platform this week, and fan speculation has been rampant.

The first season presents a large cast of characters residing in the afterlife, sets them at odds with musical numbers about their clashes, and builds tense rivalries and angsty, affectionate connections that fuel fan obsession.

The community's expectations for season 2 vary widely, but certain threads emerge over and over: Will a fan-favorite character escape his tormentor? Will we find out more about the mysterious "deal" affecting Alastor the Radio Demon? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?

"Naturally, I don't produce the show with fan service as the main goal," the creator commented recently. "However I feel like me being a devotee of the series means there's a lot of it just naturally. I also want to see these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"

The creator reveals her long-term vision is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have received approval by Prime Video and A24, which produce the series.

That might mean viewers have to wait years for some of the major resolutions — but they may be surprised at how fast the new season progresses, and how many of what they're waiting for happens this season.

"I believe people are going to get a lot out of it," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we get some really amazing reveals, some fascinating backstories, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience additional musical numbers from the previously silent cast members."

The creator is well-informed of the theories and desires about season 2 — particularly in the format of fan bingo cards.

"I've seen a couple people create a bingo card about season 2," she mentions. "Naturally I can't post it, but I've already completed some of them, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."

Hazbin Hotel the second season premieres on Prime Video on Oct. 29.
